Wheaton Urban District Unveils New Logo, Website Design
The Wheaton Urban District unveiled its new logo and website design at www.wheatonmd.org, which creates a one-stop online destination for the latest news and information on downtown Wheaton. The new site improves navigation and increases focus on engaging users through social networking sites and blogs.
“It’s an exciting time for Wheaton,” said Mid-County Regional Center Director Ana Van Balen. “As we look towards revitalization in the downtown, it is important that our brand is in line with the changes to come. There are residents and business owners who have been in Wheaton for more than 50 years, as well as newcomers to the area who bring a new energy and diversity. This is what makes Wheaton such a unique community and the new logo and website reflects this diversity.”
Some of the enhancements to the newly-designed website include: links to Wheaton’s Twitter and Facebook pages; Yelp-enhanced business ratings; real-time Wheaton Metro station train schedule; Wheaton Urban District blog feed; featured business section; and YouTube embedded videos.
The website, along with the mobile web version (m.wheatonmd.org) continues to utilize GPS type functionality providing “find the nearest” type features along with incorporating Google Maps for mapping, street view and step-by-step walking and driving directions. The mobile application -- m.wheatonmd.org -- automatically sources data “live” from the downtown Wheaton website, keeping it up-to-date in “real time.”
The new Wheaton logo was designed by Wheaton-based design company Letterforms and the website was designed and developed by Geocentric.
