Dusit Thai on University Boulevard in Wheaton has closed.

The restaurant space (1,837 square feet) is available for lease from Greenhill Realty.

This is the second Thai restaurant Wheaton has lost in two years: Suporn Thai closed in 2010. But Wheaton fans of Thai food still have options nearby: Nava Thai on Fern Street and Ruan Thai on Amherst Avenue.

Will you miss Dusit Thai? Tell us in the comments.

Greenhill Realty seems to be losing a lot of tenants. Wondering if raising of the rents is a big issue. Greenhill has a lot of empty business locations in Wheaton. Sad.

Hard to say on this one. With the popularity of Nava and Ruan, there may just not have been enough customers. We'll miss Dusit. I also miss Asian Foods (primarily Thai market and carry-out on University), which closed a couple of years ago. It was in the strip mall with Max's and the CVS. I recently saw a sign that a "French bakery" was going into Asian Foods' old space. Suporn Thai closed a bunch of years ago too.

We went to this place many times over the past 19 years. It will be missed!

Dusit will surely be missed by many, too much local competition. Looks like Greenhill has several new tenants coming into Wheaton lately, maybe their rents are low and locations good.

A friend of ours who'd lived in Thailand said Dusit had the best Thai food in the DC area. But we, like many others I guess, got distracted by Nava Thai the past few years. Too late now, I guess. Sad to see them go.

Suporn was our first date and we were sad when that closed, too. My family discovered that Dusit closed when we tried to go there on Halloween for a family dinner. Very sad. We checked out the prices at the place at the end of the road, but felt it was a little pricier than we wanted that night. We will miss Dusit.

I must say Ruan Thai is a family favorite.

Dusit actually closed a number of weeks ago. It's distinguishing mark was that it had the best parking of any of the Thai restaurants in the area (not great, just not as bad as the others). I do think there were probably too many Thai restaurants within a few blocks to be sustainable. The food at Dusit was good, but Ruan's is better but the parking over there is horrible.
