Event Preview: Wheaton Volunteer Rescue Squad Groundbreaking

The rescue squad will be constructing a new building across from the Wheaton Library.

The Wheaton Volunteer Rescue Squad will be breaking ground next Saturday at its new location at the corner of Georgia Avenue and Arcola Avenue.

The July 14 ceremony will begin at 11 a.m.

Although the Montgomery County government is contributing 50 percent of the project funds, the Wheaton Volunteer Rescue Squad holds the contracts with the architects and construction company.

The new two-story firehouse is on schedule for completion in late summer 2013.
