New Businesses Coming to Wheaton Mall

With the incoming Costco and the recently arrived Dick's Sporting Goods, Westfield Wheaton is attracting new retail and restaurants--like Chipotle.

Patch spoke with Westfield Wheaton's marketing director, Sidney Woods, about when these stores and restaurants are expected to open.

Woods said that those expected to open later this year include Mayorga Coffee, All Cell and Classic Diamond Jewelers.

What drew in business like Mayorga and Chipotle? A new anchor store in the mall: Costco. However, Costco's scheduled Oct. 18 opening was delayed, and no new opening date has been announced. Costco officials said the delay was due to unspecified construction issues, but Woods told Patch that it was an "aesthetic, not a structural issue."

"We're optimistic that we can open this year," Woods said. [Editor's Note, 10/24/12: Woods emphasized in a follow-up conversation with Patch that Costco's opening date is still unknown to Westfield, and that it is very uncertain whether Costco will open in 2012 or in 2013.]
