Panera is still coming to Wheaton's mall, but you'll need hold off on your sandwich fix for just a while longer.

Matt Barry, general manager of Westfield Wheaton, said the casual dining restaurant was currently slated for a April 2011 opening, as construction crews begin will begin work on the exterior of the restaurant, facing the Target parking lot.

" You'll see massive changes in the next 90 days," Barry said in an e-mail message.

Panera won't be alone as a lunch option at that end of the mall. Westfield recently signed Elevation Burger, an organic burger chain that has previously set up shop in Baltimore's National Harbor and in Potomac (and will also be coming to Hyattsville and downtown D.C. soon). Elevation will occupy the space right next to the Panera.
