What makes your favorite the best of the bunch? Don't see your favorite on the list? Tell us about it in the comment box below the poll.

Click on the link of your favorite spot in the list above, then—on its Patch Places listing—rate it and review it. It's that easy!

Although I am quite mixed (ethnically/ancestry), I was raised in a nearly total Irish environment; my Dad had ONE fully Irish grandmother so the entire family followed her lead. McGinty's pub reminds me of places my Dad took us as kids, much to my mother's dismay. It is a traditional place all around, the peculiar wall paint color, the winding around the bar, the traditional dancers ... the fish and chips! When I am in McGinty's any time of the year I fully expect to see my father there - and he died a long time ago! But then again, in Irish tradition and belief, he probably is there.

Colm and family are from Cort Town, where I honeymooned. McGinty's rocks.

I and a good number of my RM friends will celebrate St. Patrick's Day at the Limerick Pub. We we wish the Royal Mile all-the-best on their re-opening, under new ownership, on Fri. 3/16th. Slante!

Royal Mile Pub, nothing against it, but it is a Scottish bar.

If you want to enjoy Irish music and surround yourself with Irish people then go to McGinty's or Limerick.

I'll be at Pat Troy's in Old Town.

Erin go braugh!

Bubba is right - save RM for haggis day, support the Saint of Snake-exiling at The Limerick!

Wheatonians are doubly fortunate this St. Patrick's day to be once again able to trod the Royal Mile and by taking a few more steps also patronize the Limerick. My family plans to be at the Mile but I hope to stop by for a bit at the Limerick also.

Bubba you ask why a Scottish bar on St. Patrick's? It could well be that St. Patrick was born in . . . Scotland (or Wales or Roman Britain). History is murky on that point and we're only sure that he first arrived in Ireland as a slave. It is of course clear that St. Patrick's great ecclesiastical triumphs took place in Ireland.

Should be a memorable St. Patrick's day in Wheaton, it's a privilege for us to have these two neighborhood establishments and we should do everything we can to make them both thrive. Be safe and enjoy.

We are indeed very fortunate to have the much-loved Royal Mile reopening this Friday. I have sorely missed the pub in the two months it has been closed and I plan on doing lots of celebrating there this weekend!

Regarding a rush to celebrate at the Royal Mile: I wish the new owners all-the-best and hope they continue with the Scottish traditions, great food, fine beverages, and terrific music. However, I will celebrate only when it is known that the staff, which went home at Christmas without salary, has been compensated. Doors closed in December with multiple thousands being owed to workers/friends. I speak as an authority, having helped pay some of the final salaries. The RM owes me nearly $4K.

I would vote for a Pub Crawl between the Royal Mile Pub and the Limerick Pub. That's the way to go! Support your local Irish watering holes!

I've been going to RMP since it first opened. They have really pushed the resturant thing more than the pub thing in recent years. Don't really blame them if thats what they have to do but the better place just to hang these days is Limrick. Limrick always has something going on and is drinker friendly. RMP needs to step its game up now that they have some competion.
