Shooting Reported at Popeye's on Georgia Avenue

Call came through Friday night.

Update, March 26, 6:30 p.m.: Montgomery County Police are investigating the shooting as an attempted murder. Fourth District officers responded to a call of a possible shooting on the 12100 block of Grandview Avenue (behind the Popeye's). When they arrived on the scene, they found a young adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds in the parking lot of the Popeye's.

The victim, a Silver Spring resident, was transported to a local hospital. According to police spokesperson Lucille Baur, the victim is still alive.

A on-scene witness described the an altercation between seven males between the ages of 17 to 20 on the corner of Wiseman Road and Grandview Avenue. The witness heard shots fired. Shell casings were found in the parking lot of Popeye's.

Police are asking for anyone with additional information on this crime to call the Fourth District Investigative Unit at 240-773-5530.

Original story, March 25, 10:50 p.m.: Montgomery County Police confirmed a shooting occurred at the Popeye's in Wheaton at 12011 Georgia Avenue this evening.
