Each March 17, cries of “Slainte!” and “Kiss Me, I’m Irish!” echo from Irish pubs, restaurants and bars as Irish and non-Irish alike don green clothing and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
According to a story in The Gazette, 52-year-old Wheaton resident Sunial Maximus looks to re-open the Royal Mile Pub, which former owner Mike Moore closed in January. A sign on the door is advertising a Friday, March 16 grand re-opening, just in time for St. Patrick’s Day festivities.
Just down the street, the Limerick Pub is planning a day full of fun, starting with “Kegs & Eggs” from 9 to 11 a.m. featuring the music of Brendan Sheridan and Pat Farrell. Throughout the day beer specials, giveaways and a special menu will make those who miss it green with envy.
“My last name may be spelled M-I-L-L-O-N-E, but on Saturday, it becomes M-A-L-O-N-E-Y!” said Limerick Pub regular Mike Millone. “Everyone has a good time here at the Limerick and I look forward to celebrating with my Irish friends on Saturday.”
