Thefts from Vehicles Spike in One Glenmont Neighborhood in Early June
13 thefts from vehicles reported in one night within one mile.
The summer months are no stranger to an increase in theft from vehicles, but one community in Glenmont has had to deal with a surprising number of break-ins over one night in the beginning of June.
In a recently released crime summary, Montgomery County Police reported a series of thefts from vehicles overnight between June 6 and June 7. Most of the thefts from vehicles occurred inside the Tivoli neighborhood, just north of Kennedy High School, with the rest nearby on Briggs Road and Middlevale Lane.
John Dassoulas, crime analyst for the 4th District, said while it wasn't unusual for these types of thefts to occur in the summer, so far police haven't seen a multiple thefts like this anywhere else within the district so far.
Most of the vehicles were locked and police do not have a suspect at this time.
