Police have linked a home invasion robbery in Wheaton with one that occurred in Bethesda the following day in which the suspect tied up the residents and sexually assaulted the housekeeper, according to police.

The Royal Mile Pub in Wheaton has closed its doors indefinitely. The owner has said only that the pub is in a "restructuring phase."

In the General Assembly, Del. Ana Sol Gutiérrez plans to try to change the proposed plan to include a sub-district with a Hispanic majority in District 18, citing results from the 2010 Census that show extraordinary growth in the Hispanic population in Montgomery County.

Wheaton’s library advisory committee and its supporters are hoping that the FY13 CIP budget, which the county executive will release Tuesday, includes design phase funding for the combined renovation of the Wheaton Library and the neighborhood recreation center on Georgia Avenue. Councilmember Hans Riemer toured the library on Monday and promised his support in upcoming budget negotiations.
