You got to be kdding. Banquet in these financial times no wonder why we are so far in the hole. We are so worried about cut backs and we still plan this event. This is what is meant as nonessential. Its a great idea but is it good thinking with all the current budget restrictions and deficits we have. Lets all just party while Rome Burns.

If you looked into the event, you would see that you have to buy tickets to this event so I highly doubt that the much of this is being funded by the city if at all. Just from the website I can see that the tickets are $35-45 a person for a dinner and any awards given to student award winners are all gift certificates from sponsoring local businesses. I've never been to one but thinking of going this year since it's all about acknowledging people who did outstanding work in the community and people who when above and beyond when they dedicate their lives to protect the citizens on a daily basis in the cities of Wheaton and Kensington.
