Friends of Immigrant Center Take Part in the Spirit of Thanksgiving

In the Holiday spirit, the Gilchrist Center for Cultural Diversity, the County Goverment's Immigrant Resource Center, collaborated with A Wider Circle to distribute Thanksgiving boxes to more than 100 families in need.  The Thanksgiving boxes contained all the necessary food items for families to make their own Thanksgiving dinner this year.

This distribution took place on the evening of November 20th, at the Mid-County Regional Service Center in Wheaton, Maryland. With the help of Gilchrist  Center students, volunteer instructors, and other Center volunteers the distribution process was a big succcess.

The mission of the Gilchrist Center for Cultural Diversity is to be Montgomery County Government's welcome center where the County's diverse population can be connected to public and private services, volunteering, civic engagement, cross cultural activities, and economic empowerment.  The Center is also a place for intercultural interaction among the County's diverse residents on acitivites such as service projects like this one.
