Featured Artist of the Month: Sara Becker

Sara Becker is a native Washingtonian, past president of Montgomery Art, and member of several local art groups. Recently her artwork has been inspired by the spare abstracted styles and brilliant colors employed by such artists and Franz Marc and Wassily Kandinsky, from the early 1900’s. Some recent work includes pure abstraction - using heavy gesso and a palette knife to create added texture along with explosive colors. She works in oil, acrylic and ink.

Sara earned a Specialized Certificate in Painting from Montgomery College and continues study through the Yellow Barn in Glen Echo and with local fine-arts teacher Vivienne Cho.
