Featured Artist of the Month: Michele Zugrav

Michele Zugrav is originally from Bucharest, Romania, and educated at the Bucharest School of Fine Arts. After moving to the U.S. in 1979, she began a long career in (engineering) drafting. At that time drafts were done by hand, requiring great craftsmanship. After retiring, she began taking classes in oil painting with Ed Ahlstrom and Wilfred Brunner at Montgomery College, where she had studied computer drafting.

Michele works mostly in landscape and still life. Nature - especially her garden, is a frequent inspiration. Her colors strike a deep response in the viewer. Brilliant yellows and green predominate; buildings and man-made objects are crisp. Michele also creates and exhibits miniature paintings.
