A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Howard, southeastern Montgomery, northern Prince George's and northwestern Anne Arundel counties until 5:30 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

This line of storms may produce hail the size of quarters and winds in excess of 70 mph, the weather service reported.

Move indoors and stay away from windows, the weather service advised.

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Howard, Montgomery, Carroll and Frederick counties until 4:15 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

The dangerous storm was detected near Damascus after 3:35 p.m., according to the weather service, which said it could bring winds greater than 60 mph and hail the size of golf balls.

Move indoors and stay away from windows, the weather service advised.
