Looking for something exciting to do this weekend? Check out some of the fun things going on around Wheaton and the rest of Montgomery County

The Camellia Society Plant Show & Sale

  • Description: Get growing tips for your camellias at this plant show and sale in the Brookside Gardens Visitor Center.

Spring Flowers and Trees Storytime

  • Where: Brookside Nature Center, 1400 Glenallan Ave, Wheaton, MD
  • When: Sunday, April 7, 2013, 3 p.m.
  • Description: Find out how things grow in the spring.  Each week we'll listen to a story about a different plant or flower.  If the weather is nice we'll take a short walk. (Ages 3-6 years)

Bread Baking 101

  • Where:  Johns Hopkins University - Montgomery County Campus, 9601 Medical Center Dr, Rockville
  • When:  Saturday, April 6, 10 a.m.
  • Description:   Informative demonstration that will explore the differences among wheat flours and investigate the mystery and science of how bread ingredients work.  Participants will learn about bread kneading and shaping techniques.
  • Cost:  Free

Flower Avenue Outdoor Market

  • Where:  8809 Flower Ave, Silver Spring
  • When:  Saturday, April 6, 9 a.m.
  • Description:  Flower Avenue Holiday Market returns as the Flower Avenue Market on April 7.  Every Saturday through the end of the year and may add Sundays soon. You can find more info at www.floweravenuemarket.com.

Rockville High School Mulch Sale

  • Where:  2100 Baltimore Rd, Rockville
  • When:  Saturday, April 6, 8 a.m.
  • Description:  Rockville HS Booster Club Mulch Sale. Proceeds benefit RHS Athletics, Music Programs and Journalism Academy.  Delivery and spreading services also available.

Three Little Birds: A New Reggae Children's Musical

  • Where:  7300 Macarthur Blvd, Glen Echo
  • When:  Saturday, April 6, 11 a.m.
  • Description:  Play for ages 4 and up based on the story by Cedella Marley, music and lyrics by Bob Marley, Adapted for the stage by Michael J. Bobbitt.

Shades of Spring Art Show and Sale

  • Where:  The Art League of Germantown, 12901 Town Commons Dr, Germantown

  • Description:  The Art League of Germantown presents its Annual Spring Fine Arts and Crafts Show as part of the 30th Anniversary celebrations.

Germantown Community Flea Market

Afro Blue & Jazztet

  • Description:   Howard University’s premier vocal jazz ensemble, Afro Blue, sings music in styles similar to Lambert, Hendricks and Ross; Manhattan Transfer; The New York Voices and Take 6, with their own twist.

Earth Day Clean Up

  • Description:  Bags, gloves, trash grabbers and a map of the area are provided.  Any volunteer time spared is appreciated.

Rainbows and Lollipops Dance Party

  • When:  Friday, April 5, 8 p.m.
  • Description:  8pm - Newcomer and Intermediate Lessons. 9pm - Dance party - dance to a mix of Latin, swing, and ballroom music. Partner not required. Singles and couples welcome. Refreshments, Drinks, and Prizes.
