What You Need to Know About Metro: August 12
WMATA suggests allowing an extra 20 minutes for rail travel this weekend.
It’s the weekend again which of course means a few Metro delays. The red, blue and yellow lines will all be affected by closures, including the Red line sharing one track near Wheaton - between the Takoma and Forest Glen stations.)
Here's what you need to be prepared for wherever you're going around the Metro area.
Red Line – from 10 p.m. Friday through closing on Sunday

- Red Line trains between Takoma and Forest Glen as well as between the Grosvenor and Twinbrook stations.
- Trains will depart Glenmont and the Shady Grove stations about every 24 minutes.
- WMATA suggests that customers allow about 20 minutes of additional travel time.
Blue and Orange Lines – from 10 p.m. Friday through closing on Sunday
- Orange and Blue Line trains will share one track between the Eastern Market and Stadium-Armory stations while the Orange Line trains will share one track between the Vienna and West Falls Church stations.
- WMATA suggests that customers allow about 20 minutes of additional travel time.
Yellow Line – from 10 p.m., Friday through closing on Sunday
