Maple Sugar Festival

Though maple trees can be found in other parts of the world, tapping maples for their sugary sap is decidedly an American tradition. Brookside’s Maple Sugar Festival allows participants to travel the journey from sap collection to tasting the final product – maple syrup.

Starting with a short introduction and movie in the nature center auditorium, visitors move from station to station to see and taste the sap dripping from trees, test the sap as it’s boiling down, and, finally, compare homemade maple syrup against commercial brands on silver-dollar-sized pancakes. At each station, participants can learn more about the maple sugaring process.

Guests can also enjoy maple crafts, games, treats and Native American flute music, and will be able to visit the historic Harper Family log cabin. Participants can expect to spend about an hour for the complete festival experience.  All Ages. Please register at ParkPASS.org
