Historic Silver Spring B&O Railway Station Open House

  • Description:  The public is welcome to check out the railway station and learn about all of its rich history.

Magnolia Laurie: “with a tug and a hold”

  • Where:  VisArts, 155 Gibbs St, Rockville
  • When:  Friday, Jan. 4-Wednesday, Jan. 9, 12-5 p.m.
  • Description:  Magnolia Laurie’s solo exhibition in the Gibbs Street Gallery at VisArts.
  • Cost: Free

 

Seussical

  • Where:  Imagination Stage, 4908 Auburn Ave, Bethesda
  • When:   Saturday, Dec. 29, 1:30 p.m. (Check website for full performance schedule).
  • Description:  Dr. Seuss characters, including the Cat in the Hat, Horton, Gertrude McFuzz, and the Whos of Whoville make an appearance in the play Seussical. Best for ages 4-12. 
  • Cost: $12-25

 

The Historic Blair Mansion Inn Presents: A Murder Mystery Dinner Theater

  • Where:  7711 Eastern Ave, Silver Spring
  • When:  Friday, Jan 4, Saturday, Jan 5, various show-times
  • Description:  A murder mystery is performed at The Historic Blair Mansion Inn. The cast takes modern themes to create a backdrop for the murderer to commit their crime. Then, that's when the crowd steps in to guess who committed the devious act. 
  • Cost: $50

 

Garden of Lights - Winter Walk-through Holiday Light Display

  • Where: Brookside Gardens, 1800 Glenallan Ave, Silver Spring
  • When: January 5, 5:30- 10 p.m.
  • Description:  16th annual holiday light display. Nightly musical performances by local musicians as well as refreshments and shopping.
  • Cost: $25.00

 

Fairgrounds Flea Market

  • Where: Montgomery County Agricultural Services, 16 Chestnut St, Gaithersburg
  • When: Saturday, Jan. 5, 8 a.m.
  • Description:  Antiques, crafts, collectibles, books, household items, art, jewelry, tools, perfume, tools, clothing, electronics and more.
  • Cost: Free

 

Sewing/Quilting - Quilts of Valor and Quilts for Kids

  • Where:  19951 Father Hurley Blvd, Germantown
  • When:  Saturday, Jan 5, 9 a.m.
  • Description:   Sewers are welcome to join a group of ladies that creates Quilts of Valor for combat service members, veterans and kids in treatment for cancer.
  • Cost:  Free
