Get Out: July 15 to 17

This weekend, have fun in (or safely protected from) the sun.

For this weekend, we have a mix of outdoor and indoor events:

When/Where: July 15, 5 to 7 p.m., The Dog Stay, 8122 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring

Why Go? The inspired charity, Pets2Vets, which teams up shelter dogs and veterans with PTSD, will benefit from this festive event (featuring games, appetizers, cash bar). One dog per guest allowed; all dogs current on vaccines.

Pricing: $10 suggested donation entry

When/Where: July 16, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 

Why Go? On this half-mile hike, you’ll find out what fox families do in the summer- where they live, play, and hunt.

Pricing: $5 (ages 3 and up, registration required)

When/Where: July 16, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., FRESHFARM Market between Ellsworth Drive and Fenton Street, Silver Spring

Why Go? You can take your ailing plants to the Montgomery County Master Gardeners for guru-guidance. They’ll be on-hand to bring light to your blight. Attendees are encouraged to bring full and intact plant and insect samples to aid the diagnosis.

When/Where: July 16, 9:30 to 11 a.m., 5100 Meadowside Lane, Rockville

Why Go? Let the kids explore and capture the excitement of the forest. Children must bring a camera they are familiar with.

Pricing: $8 (ages 7 to 12, registration required)

When/Where: July 16, 7 p.m., 100 Gibbs St, Rockville (N. Washington Street and Middle Lane)

Why Go? There will be an 8k race (including a wheelchair division) plus a 1k fun run, before wrapping the race up with a block party. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Rockville Recreation Fund.

Pricing: $36 through July 15, $45 on-site registration

When/Where: July 17, 3 p.m. Calvary Lutheran Church, 9545 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring 

Why go? Hear superb pianists play the classical works of Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, Grieg, and the rags of Scott Joplin. A reception will be held after the performances.

When/Where: July 15, 16 (8:00 pm), 17 (2:00 pm), , 603 Edmonston Dr, Rockville

Why Go? Relive the musical sensation or see it for the first time. Either way, Annie will come out “tomorrow, tomorrow”…  and what the heck, she'll be there Saturday and Sunday too.
