Environmental film festival, school musicals and a Purim festival.

It's Thursday and you've got no idea what do for this weekend. Wheaton Patch is coming to the rescue. Here's some ideas for getting out this weekend.

Where/When: AFI, 8633 Colesville Road, Now through Mar. 27th.

Why Go: AFI is one of major venues for this film festival around the D.C. area, which will be showing some of the most interesting, impassioned and controversial documentaries and films on the natural environment. This upcoming weekend AFI will feature films about the Arctic Circle, wind turbines and even ghosts. 

Pricing: $11, general admission, reduced rates for seniors, students.

Where/When: Mar. 18th, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.,

Why Go: The local high school will put on a very international show with vocalists, musicians and dancers. Enjoy a similarly worldly meal beforehand. All proceeds will go towards scholarships.

Pricing: $5 per person.

Where/When: Mar. 18th, 19th at 7 p.m. , at Einstein High School

Why Go: Einstein's spring musical is the popular story of a young woman who makes the world (or at least Baltimore) a better place with her love of dance. This is Einstein's largest musical production to date.

Pricing: $10 for adults, $8 for students.

Purim Festival

Where/When: Mar. 20th from 12 to 3 p.m., in Downtown Silver Spring (Ellsworth Dr.)

Why Go: Celebrate Purim with a festival full of fun, including games, moonbounces and, yes, ponies. at 2:15, there will be a magic of Purim show with Benjamin Corey.

Pricing: Free

Les Nubians

Where/When: Mar. 17th, 7:30 p.m., at La Maison Française (4101 Reservoir Rd. N.W., Washington, D.C)

Why Go: Grammy-nominated performers Les Nubians are sisters and perform a mix of jazz and R&B in the "Afropean" style. Their Friday show is already sold out
