Here are some fun things to do around town with the family this weekend.

Where/When: Corner of Norfolk and Auburn avenues, Bethesda. Tuesday through Saturday, July 24 through 28, at 9 p.m.

Why go: Enjoy five nights of blockbuster hits at downtown Bethesda's seventh annual outdoor movie series! Show times begin at 9 p.m. at the corner of Norfolk and Auburn avenues. A limited number of chairs will be provided and attendees are invited to bring their own lawn chairs.

137th Annual St. Mary's Church Barbecued Chicken Dinner and Fair

Where/When: 18230 Barnesville Rd., Barnesville. Saturday, July 28, from noon to 7 p.m.

Why go: Enjoy dinner (eat in or take out), jousting (noon to 2 p.m.), crafts, baked goods, children's games, country music, white elephant stands and produce.

Price: Free.

 

Montgomery County 2012 Farm Tour and Harvest Sale

Where/When: 18400 Muncaster Rd., Derwood. Saturday and Sunday, July 28 and 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Why go: Learn about farm animals, purchase fresh produce, buy bunches of flowers and support the local economy. This agricultural activity helps to promote the importance of agriculture, and will be held rain or shine. For more information, print out the event brochure.

Olde Towne Market

Where/When: 31 S. Summit Ave., Gaithersburg. Saturday, July 28, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Why go: This market features food, arts and crafts, local businesses, flea market items and more. Vendor space is available. Please contact 301-258-6350, extension 162, for more information.

Farm Tour—Meet the Animals

Where/When: 167670 Whites Store Rd., Boyds. Saturday and Sunday, July 28 and 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why go: Come tour Star Gazing Farm, an animal sanctuary. Event highlights include: meeting the animals up close, hands-on craft classes and animal demos, farm games, snow cones and treats, and wool, yarn and crafts for sale. It's a family-friendly event, but please leave your pets at home.

Price: Free.

 

Over The Line Festival

Where/When: Round House Theatre Silver Spring, 8641 Colesville Rd., Silver Spring. Thursday, July 12, through Monday, July 30; various show times.

Why go: Round House Theatre presents a curated festival of music, theater and dance performances by Contradiction Dance, Clown Cabaret, dog & pony dc, Forum Theatre, Will Gartshore, Happenstance Theater, Emma Jaster, Brianna Letourneau, on the nOse productions, Jon Spelman and Tina Chancey and the Taffety Punk Theatre Company.

Price: Over The Line Festival tickets are $15 ($10 for Round House Theatre subscribers, senior citizens, patrons age 30 and under, and groups of 10 or more). Tickets to Taffety Punk performances during the festival are $10. For tickets, call 240-644-1100 or order online.
