Description: McLean Youth Soccer and Adidas host the 2nd McLean Premier Soccer Tournament, open to U13-U19 boys' and girls' travel/select teams.

Where: Inner Harbor, Light Street and Pratt Street, Baltimore, MD.

When: Aug. 31 through Sept. 2.

Description: Downtown Baltimore is transformed into a high-speed raceway for Indy-style cars. The three-day event will feature the Indy 500 and IZOD Indy Car Series, as well as the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron.

Price: $5 to $895.

 

Maryland State Fair

Where: Maryland State Fairgrounds, 2200 York Rd., Timonium, MD.

When: Daily through Monday, Sept. 3.

LABOR DAY RIDE SPECIAL: Monday, Sept. 3, from 10 a.m. to closing, pay $22 to ride an unlimited number of rides.

Price: Adult admission: $8, senior admission (62 and over): $6, children (6 to 11): $3. Children 5 and younger are admitted free of charge. (Rides are not included.)

 

Baby Bear's Birthday

Where: 7300 MacArthur Blvd., Glen Echo, MD. 

When: Saturday, Sept. 1, at 10 a.m.

Description: A play for tiny tots, up to age 4. Shows are 30 minutes long, the lights stay on and there are no loud noises to scare young children.

Price: $5.

 

The Comedy and Magic Society

Where: Arts Barn, 311 Kent Square Rd., Gaithersburg, MD.

When: Friday, Aug. 31.

Description: Magic and slight-of-hand with interactive theater designed for ages 10 and up.

Price: $12 to $15.

 

Labor Day Art Show

Where: Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture, Glen Echo Park Spanish Ballroom, 7300 MacArthur Blvd., Glen Echo, MD.

When: Friday, Aug. 31, through Monday, Sept. 3. Opening Reception: Friday, 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday, noon to 6 p.m.

Description: The 42nd Annual Labor Day Art Show features the work of more than 150 artists from the Mid-Atlantic region. Most artists have a connection to Glen Echo Park, either as instructors, students or resident artists. Works will include photography, painting, ceramics, jewelry, glass, textiles and more. Most of the work is for sale.

Why go: Say goodbye to summer and welcome the fall.

8:00 p.m. — Tango and swing dance lessons for beginners. Quickstep and bolero lessons for intermediate dancers.

9:00 p.m. — Dance party: Enjoy a mix of Latin, ballroom and swing dancing.

Renaissance Festival

Description: The 36th Annual Maryland Renaissance Festival.
