Weekend Planner in Wheaton: Drumline Showcase, Flying Squirrels and Art

Music

- Six Montgomery County high schools are competing in the Sixth Annual Northwood Drumline Showcase this Saturday afternoon at Northwood High School.

Art

- The Brookside Gardens visitors center is showcasing a free exhibition of drawings and paintings by local artists.

- The Montgomery Art Association has settled into its new gallery space in Westfield Wheaton mall. Its current art show runs through December 2 and features local artists.

Nature

- Want to see a flying squirrel and find out more about how it lives? Come to the Brookside Nature Center Friday evening. Note that "Rain cancels the program because squirrels have galoshes."

Children

- Brookside Nature Center will have a "Get Ready for Winter" storytime on Sunday afternoon about how birds and animals prepare for winter, followed by a short nature walk.
