Bites Nearby: 2 Amys

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in, but we've got a better idea: Each week, Wheaton Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that's worth checking out. Here's this week's choice.

2 Amys— Regularly listed as amongst the best pizza places in the region, 2 Amys is a must-try for area pizza-lovers. While it’s usually crowded and noisy, don’t be intimidated—it's well worth the few extra minutes wait for a table. Simply relax at the bar, have a beverage, and plan your course of action by checking out what everyone else is ordering.  And since 2 Amys offers personal-sized pies, topped with everything from traditional fresh basil and mozzarella, to clams and eggplant confit, it's wise to approach the waiting time as a research opportunity.

For starters, try an order of fried risotto balls or meatballs.  Then encourage the rest of your party to order different items because at 2 Amys there is a positive correlation between happiness and the number of menu items sampled. The stuffed "pizze"—another featured item—are equally filling and tasty, thus suitable for sharing, or a savory personal option for the more gluttonous amongst us (yours truly included).

So, arrive knowing you'll be staying for a while, but know that you'll likely leave thinking about the next opportunity to return.
