Bites Nearby: Los Chorros

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Wheaton Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice.

Los Chorros is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Georgia Avenue, but do not let that stop you from stopping in. The Mexican and Salvadorean restaurant features an array of dishes from both countries on the menu.

Mexican classics like chiles rellenos, sizzling fajitas and tostadas are divine, and the pupusas give even a run for their money. Beef marinated in spices and served Salvadorean style stand up in comparisons to big name steak houses. Many regulars keep coming back to Los Chorros specifically for the seafood, citing the stuffed lobster and Especial Doña Maria -- salmon filled with crab and shrimp covered in a schmancy sauce -- as their dream dinner choices.

Brunch is served on the weekends, with a good deal of huevos (egg) choices, such as huevos rancheros, huevos machacas and more.
