Bites Nearby: Olazzo Bethesda

Each week, Wheaton Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice.

There are a wealth of fine Italian dining options in downtown Bethesda. , , and are all solid options.

However, in Bethesda is one of my favorites and offers great food for the price. Olazzo offers good drink specials and even better Italian fare. Bottles of wine are half price on Mondays, martinis are only $5 on Tuesdays and the pasta entrées are always divine.

My husband and I like to grab a sitter during the week and start the nght off with a bang by ordering a decadent martini. From the extensive choices (more flavors than an ice cream shop!), I prefer the Olazzo, a heavenly concoction of raspberry Stoli, cranberry, pineapple and red wine, while my partner in crime prefers the classic Dirty. Both are tasty and stiff, that perfect and difficult-to-achieve combo.

All dinner entrées are served with a green salad and freshly baked bread. Favorites include the chicken cardinale, salmon mango and the rich but totally worth it ravioli rose in a decadent tomato cream sauce.

Splurge on a big hunk of classic tiramisu as a perfect finish to a night  at one of the best-priced upscale Italian joints in Montgomery County.
