Bites Nearby: Sweet Green

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in, but we've got a better idea. Each week, Wheaton Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that's worth checking out. Here's this week's choice:

Sweet Green-- The general public is starting demand more salubrious fast food options, and Sweet Green is evidence that the restaurant community is starting to listen.

The Bethesda Ave. location is part of a chain that features quick, healthy wraps and salads, comprised of locally farmed ingredients. Patrons can order any salad as a wrap, and vice-versa. Frozen yogurt is also offered, along with several topping options.

The message sent by Sweet Green is clear: there is no reason fast food can't be good for you and environmentally responsible to boot.

As for the quality of the food, you never feel like what you eat has sat in a salad bar for days, and the ingredient choices are plentiful enough so that return customers don't get bored.

Moreover, the staff is very accommodating with substitutions, and while the line can be long during lunch, it moves quickly. However, do be wary of the parking situation; located on Bethesda Ave., it can be quite the challenge to find a spot.
