Foodie News: Coming Soon—Dumpling House, Chocolate Shop, Deli and Fish Tacos

One meat:

The family behind Washington, DC, restaurants Jenny's Asian Fusion and Scion is testing a new food concept in Silver Spring: NaiNai, a casual noodle and dumpling bar at 1200 East-West Highway, Silver Spring Patch reported.

The restaurant, which is connected to Scion's second location, will offer a variety of handmade dumplings, including pork, seafood, chicken and veggie. NaiNai also will offer steamed baos—an Asian delicacy that owner Joanne Liu compares to Portuguese sweet bread with different fillings—as well as a variety of noodle soups, Silver Spring Patch reported.

Three sides:

The former Lucky Garden space in the Cabin John Shopping Center is set to be re-incarnated as Fish Taco, a new restaurant planned by the principals of Bethesda's Food, Wine & Co., The Washington Post reported.

The 30-seat, fast casual restaurant at 7945 MacArthur Blvd. will serve salads, burritos, rice bowls and, of course, fish tacos, Bethesda Patch reported.

Cookies by Design, a popular Bethesda bakery franchise that offers custom gifts and gourmet cookies, recently was closed by Montgomery County health inspectors because they discovered evidence of mice, WUSA9 reported.

Inspectors, who were responding to a complaint, reported seeing a live mouse, according to the report, Bethesda Patch reported.

Attman's Deli—whose second location was slated to open in Potomac's Cabin John Shopping Center this spring—now is looking at a June (or perhaps later) opening, Bethesda Magazine reported.

Initially, owner Marc Attman was going to "retain the general layout" of the space—which formerly housed Celebrity Deli—and just open for lunch. But Attman changed his mind and decided to gut the space, give it a complete makeover, and open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Read more on Bethesda Magazine's website.

Dessert:

Israeli chocolate chain Max Brenner is opening its doors in the former Ritz Camera space on Bethesda Row, Bethesda Now reported. Max Brenner stores feature a chocolate "bar," where patrons may taste test offerings like truffle cream, pralines, pastries and cookies. Signs announcing the shop's arrival were posted on the storefront last Wednesday, Bethesda Patch reported.
