Three Rockville restaurants won awards at the Restaurant Association of Maryland’s Fire & Ice awards gala, Bethesda Magazine reported:

  • Quench won the award for favorite new restaurant.
  • Jeff Eng, chef of Clyde’s Tower Oaks, was named chef of the year.
  • Chef Geoff’s won wine and beverage program of the year.

The much-anticipated opening of La Madeleine in Silver Spring took place on Thursday, Silver Spring Patch reported. 

In addition to the store's traditional menu, the downtown Silver Spring La Madeleine has free wi-fi and a laptop cruisers area near the front of the store, which has approximately 70 seats inside and an additional 25 seats on the outdoor patio, Silver Spring Patch added.

Cleveland-based Paladar Latin Kitchen is scheduled to open in Gaithersburg's Downtown Crown development in 2014, the Washington Business Journal reported.

This news follows quickly behind news of Georgetown Square Wine and Beer opening a location in the Gaithersburg development, Gaithersburg Patch reported.

Bethesda's Bold Bite Dogs and Fries soon will open a second location—in Washington, DC's Union Station, the Washington Business Journal reported.

The popular gourmet hot dog shop . The eatery was launched by Venezuelan brothers Alonso and Alvero Roche, and serves hot dogs and sausages inspired by the typical street food of Caracas, Bethesda Patch reported.

Dessert:

When Max Brenner opens on Bethesda Row, it won't be a full-service restaurant, unlike the chocolate chain's locations in New York City, Philadelphia, Las Vegas and Boston, Bethesda Magazine reported.
