Maryland Waives Sales Tax on Some Appliances This Weekend

Energy efficient appliances and products can be purchased this weekend in Maryland without paying 6 percent sales tax.

This weekend Maryland consumers who buy qualifying Energy Star products will get a break from the state's 6 percent sales tax.

Beginning Saturday and continuing through Monday, shoppers who purchase air conditioners, refrigerators, washers and dryers, boilers, dehumidifiers, compact fluorescent light bulbs and other qualifying Energy Star products will get the tax break, says Fox5DC.

A complete list of ENERGY STAR items may be found at www.energystar.gov.
