Slow Down Around Macy's and Target

Mall installs new speed bumps on ring road.

It's one of the mall's messiest corners, with drivers pulling both left and right out of the Starbucks after a quick stop, and pedestrians crossing to get to Target or Macy's. Meanwhile, a lane of traffic can drive in from University Boulevard without a stop sign.

So last week, after two speedbumps were installed in the mall's ring road, the corner has gotten easier for pedestrians to cross, but harsher on the cars.

Sidney Woods, marketing director for Westfield Wheaton said that the speed bumps were put in not because of any specific incident, but as part of an overall improvement to safety.
