Wheaton Girls Grab 4th Win Against Galdiators.

Wheaton High School's girls basketball team earned their victory on Tuesday.  Back in January Wheaton and Northwood High School had faced each other on the Gladiators court with both teams looking for their 2nd win.  In that first match, Wheaton easily handled them 49-25.  Northwood was looking for payback on Wheaton's court and gave the Lady Knights a better run keeping the game close to the end.  The Knights put together a complete game and had one of their better shooting nights on the season winning 51-41.  The Knights defense came up with big plays when it appeared the Gladiators were getting ready to make a run.  Wheaton is a veteran team with only one player out of their nine woman roster that isn't a senior.  The Knights were lead by Shooting Guard Danielle MacKenzie matching her previous season high with 14 points.  Forward Brittany Briffiths had her best game of the season with 10 points.  The Knights lead throughout but Northwood kept within 10 points the majority of the game.  Wheaton improves to 4-10 for the season with five games left before the playoffs.  Northwood High School falls to 2-12.  The Knights next face a strong Seneca Valley High School team (14-3) at home on Friday, February 11th at 7pm.  Wheaton hopes to have a better performance, especially defensively, having lost 61-27 to the Eagles back on January 17th.
