City Paper Selects Wheaton for 'Best Used Bookstore'

The basement bookstore is once again recognized as a treasure.

What many people in Wheaton already know has been confirmed once again. The used bookstore operated by the Friends of the Library, Montgomery County, in the basement of the Wheaton Library is a community gem.

The latest in line to laud its merits? The Washington City Paper, which recently named it the best used bookstore in the region. Or more precisely, the "holy grail" of used bookstores.

If you browse through the bookstore at 11701 Georgia Avenue, you can find literary classics for adults and children, mysteries, romances, thrillers, memoirs,  travel guides, cookbooks and more. Prices are a bargain: hardbacks are usually $2 and paperbacks are as low as $1. The proceeds from the store help fund grants for Montgomery County Public Libraries.
