Fire Marshal Vehicle Involved in Collision Near Wheaton Mall

No injuries reported, damage to civilian vehicles

A county-owned vehicle used by the fire marshal's office was involved in a collision on Viers Mill Road near the entrance to the Westfield Wheaton Mall today.

No injuries were reported.

The Chevrolet Blazer driven by one of the county fire marshals was rear-ended in the southbound lane of Viers Mill between Wendy's restaurant and the mall entrance. Both civilian vehicles involved in the accident sustained some damage, said Capt. Oscar Garcia, spokesman for the county Fire and Rescue Service.

The other driver was cited in the accident, Garcia said. No traffic problems resulting from the accident were reported.

The county fire marshals are responsible for enforcing fire safety and prevention codes. They inspect buildings and also assist with arson investigations.
