Feeling a little blue that you can't make it to New Orleans to celebrate Fat Tuesday? Well, you won't have to look too far for a family-friendly way to make some Mardi Gras memories. There's also music, magic, culture and a favorite semi-annual consignment sale.

Where/When: at Aspen Hill Library on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.
Why Go: Story time is always great for the kids. You get to take a break from your everyday routine, listen to stories, sing songs and then end the morning choosing some fun library books to take home.

• MONTGOMERY COUNTY PARENTS OF MULTIPLES SEMI-ANNUAL
Where/When: The bargains will be at Roberto Clemente Middle School in Germantown on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Why Go: There's nothing better than finding clothes for the kids at a great price. You'll get to choose from a variety of kids' items without breaking the budget.

• MARDI GRAS FESTIVAL
Where/When: Laissez les bon temps rouler at Rockville Town Square on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Why Go: It's a family-friendly way to celebrate a great New Orleans tradition. There will be lots of activities for the whole family to enjoy, a parade and live music.

Where/When: Glen Echo Park hosts this fun series on Saturday from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Why Go: Music is magical, but music and magic can make for good times for kids and parents alike.

Why Go: Kids and parents can learn about opera and Japanese culture at this performance of . There will be plenty of interactive and exciting moments for all.
