Red Line Single Tracks in 2 Work Zones

Customers traveling between work zones should allow an extra 15 minutes to get where they're going, Metro reported.

Red Line trains will single track in two work zones this weekend, starting at 10 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2, and continuing until system closing on Sunday, Nov. 5, according to Metro's website.

The two work zones are:

  • Between Twinbrook and Grosvenor, to allow for platform reconstruction.
  • Between Forest Glen and Takoma, to allow for platform reconstruction, track maintenance and fiber-optic cable installation.

Trains will operate between Shady Grove and Glenmont every 24 minutes during the weekend.

Between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, additional trains will run between Grosvenor and Fort Totten, so that there will be service every 10 to 12 minutes between those stations, Metro reported.

"Customers traveling through the work zones should allow 15 minutes of additional travel time" to their trips, Metro added.
