The Wheaton Five: April 12

Here are five things to know in Wheaton today.

1. Today’s forecast: Mostly sunny and windy, with highs in the upper 50s. 

2. The final two opportunities to attend a public hearing for the county’s Fiscal Year 2013 operating budget are today at 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. All hearings will be held in the Third Floor Hearing Room of the Council Office Building at 100 Maryland Ave. in Rockville. The hearings will be televised live by County Cable Montgomery (CCM—Cable Channel 6 on Comcast and RCN, Channel 30 on Verizon) and also will be available via streaming through the County Web site at www.montgomerycountymd.gov.

3. The Wheaton Urban District Advisory Committee is not happy with the Montgomery County Council vote on Wheaton redevelopment.

4. Yesterday the MCPS superintendent visited Wheaton High School for a student town hall forum. One of the questions he answered dealt with Montgomery County’s high school dropout rate.
