What You Need to Know About Metro: August 5

Red line replaced by buses on western side.

Welcome back to the weekend, and of course, a few Metro delays. The Wheaton side of the Red line is in luck this week, while closure will affect the Western side of the line. Here's what you need to be prepared for wherever you're going around the Metro area.

  • From 10pm Friday to close on Sunday, free buses will replace the Red line between Rockville and Bethesda stations. This means that the Twinbrook, White Flint, Grosvenor and Medical Center stations will be closed. One set of buses will stop at each station, while an express set will go directly from Rockville to Bethesda. Add 45 minutes on to your travel time here.
  • On Sunday, the blue line will be close from Van Dorn Street to Franconia-Springfield. Free shuttle buses will operate between Franconia-Springfield and Eisenhower Avenue stations (on the Yellow line) via Van Dorn Street station. Add 30 minutes here.
  • From 10 p.m. Friday to close on Sunday, Orange and Blue line trains will single-track between Eastern Market and Stadium-Armory. Add 20 minutes here.
