What You Need to Know About Metro for Memorial Day Weekend.

Single-tracking on the Red line, closures on Blue and Orange.

If you are staying in town for Memorial Day weekend, its likely you'll use the Metro at some point. Here's what to expect on the rails this weekend.

  • Single-tracking on the Red line will be from Friendship Heights and Grosvenor-Strathmore from Friday at 10 p.m. through Monday until close. Various spots between Judiciary Square and Takoma will also be single-tracking, from 10 p.m. on Friday through Sunday until close.
  • From Friday at 10 p.m. through close on Monday, there will be no train service between Federal Center SW and Minnesota Ave on the Orange line and Benning Road on the Blue line. The four stations in between - Capitol South, Eastern Market, Potomac Ave and Stadium-Armory - will be closed.
  • Metro will be operating shuttle buses between the closed stations - but add 40 minutes into your schedule if you need to travel through this area. Check WMATA's site for last departures of the Blue and Orange lines going in either directions.
