Family-friendly Christmas Eve Service

Looking for a place where the entire family, young and old, can have a meaningful worship experience on Christmas Eve?

For adults, Northwood's candlelight service offers familiar scriptures and traditional carols woven together in a service of Lessons and Carols. The building is fully handicap-accessible. Wonderful music is provided by choir, soloist, and organ. A tall tree decorated with Christmons stands in the front of the beautiful sanctuary, and candle sconces along the walls add soft and gentle light.

All the children who come are invited to participate in a special portion of the service where they will briefly "step into the shoes" of shepherds, wise men, and all who were at the stable. In conversation with the pastor they will imagine what it would have been like to have been there that night.

Young and old will experience the quiet reverence of singing "Silent Night" by candlelight and will know the holy joy of carrying that light out into the night.

The eve of Christmas is a night full of awe and mystery and wonder. In a world so recently battered once again with violence and tragedy, it offers an opportunity to "rest beside the weary road and hear the angels sing."
