Stream Clean-Up Planned for MLK Jr. Day

Volunteers will clean up trash from the stream and woods surrounding the Matthew Henson Trail on Monday.

Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday is not just a day to celebrate his civil rights legacy. It’s also a recognized day of service, and various groups have organized volunteer activities around Montgomery County.

In nearby Aspen Hill, the Rock Creek Conservancy has organized a trash clean-up on Monday along the Matthew Henson Trail off Veirs Mill Road. Volunteers will meet at the intersection of Turkey Branch Parkway and Adrian Street at 10 a.m. and will work until 1 p.m. Gloves and bags will be provided, and hot chocolate will be served. Register for the event on the Rock Creek Conservancy’s website.
