Cystic Fibrosis Foundation hosts Aptalis CF Cycle for Life in Boyds, Maryland: Local Fundraiser Part of Nationwide Effort to Battle Life-threatening Disease

Ride today…Add tomorrows.Cycle enthusiasts from across D.C., Maryland and Virginia will come together on October 13th in support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Aptalis CF Cycle for Life bike event.  The ride will begin and end at Barnesville School in Boyds, MD, and cyclists will ride through the scenic countryside surrounding Northern Montgomery County.

This event caters to cyclists of all experience levels; 20 mile, 30 mile, and 65 mile route options allow everyone from novice to experienced cyclist to participate in this ride.  No matter what route you choose, the ride will feature well-stocked rest stops every 10-12 miles, bike mechanics available throughout the route, support vehicles, ride marshals and a post-ride celebration!  All participants will receive a long sleeved official event t-shirt with their $200 minimum pledge requirement. Those who raise $750 or more will earn an official event jersey, and the opportunity to earn additional prizes.

“With so much promising research on the horizon, it’s more important than ever that we raise every dollar we can to fight CF and improve the lives of people with this disease,” said Heidi Schiesser, volunteer chair for the CF Foundation’s Metropolitan Washington, D.C. Chapter. “We are grateful for the contributions of each volunteer, donor, and corporate sponsor who support the Aptalis CF Cycle for Life.  Every cyclist is doing their part in this life-saving effort.”

Cystic fibrosis is a chronic, progressive and life-threatening genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system.  For a person with CF, basic acts like breathing and eating are a challenge.  Currently, there is no cure for this disease.  The Metro DC Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation works to fuel medical research and progress through a variety of annual fundraising events.  Our progress is clear and our successes are tangible, but there is still much to do in order to assure ALL CF patients live a long, full and healthy life.

Local and Corporate sponsors of the Aptalis CF Cycle For Life include Clark Construction, Hudson Trail Outfitters (HTO), Boloco and Global Printing.  If you would like to become involved with this event as a Sponsor, team leader, individual cyclist or volunteer, please contact Becca Werner at 301-657-8444 or rwerner@cff.org.  By joining our CF family, you can make a difference in the lives of all people with CF.  With your help, we can add more tomorrows today—and everyday—to the lives of all affected by CF.
