I almost got hit a few times too when crossing @ crosswalks, & the problem is these people who think they can drive fast & do not care who is on the sidewalk & some even make right turns on red without looking last week I was crossing veris mill road where the metro is [going towards the mall on the LA fitness side] & right when I got where the southbound side is 2 cars came racing out of the mall fast 'zoom'. So what is need is if you hear a care sounding like it is racing [motor speeding] then STOP! Because they are not out to look for people walking, they do not seem to care about people of any size. Now for people who walk like me, parents need to hold their kids hands & start not to teach them to cross the street the right way, I saw [same day I almost got hit] 2 teenage women running acting silly crossing 2 roads running & laughing. I also think that they should bring back the days when the police give tickets to jaywalkers & also put signs like 'no turn on red'.

Do not know

I don't know if speeding was involved in this tragic event. However, going south on Georgia Avenue from Randolph Road to Parker is a stretch where everyone seems to speed as fast as possible after being trapped in the bottleneck before Randolph. I am not an avid advocate for speed cameras, but if there were ever a need for one on Georgia Avenue, it would be right about Henderson.

This is very sad. Agree with Mr M - speed camera would be good here. Would keep people from treating it like a drag strip. Even if this was more about a 90 year old driver than speed. And this is a spot where traffic lights are nearly half a mile apart (between Arcola and Shorefield). AT A COUNTY REC CENTER! When they build the new super Rec Center / Library they'd better plan for better pedestrian crossings of Georgia Ave. If people who bought houses out in Olney and Leisure World have to slow down a bit when they go thru Wheaton I say good! Georgia, University and Veirs Mill in Wheaton should function like urban avenues, not highways.
