70-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed on Georgia Avenue

Montgomery County police said the woman died of injuries early Friday morning.

A 70-year-old woman from Washington, DC, was fatally hit by a car Thursday while trying to cross Georgia Avenue near Henderson Avenue, Montgomery County police reported. 

Police said officers responded to the area around 1:55 p.m. and discovered that 1999 Honda Accord was driving north on Georgia Avenue when it hit the woman, who was crossing in a marked crosswalk.

The pedestrian, identified by police as Barbara Green, 70, of Northwest Washington, DC, was transported to Suburban Hospital. She died of injuries early Friday morning, according to police. 

The driver was identified as Miriam Parizer, 90, of Pine Orchard Drive in Silver Spring. The driver and an 88-year-old passenger were not injured, police said. 

The investigation into the incident is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620. Callers may remain anonymous.
