Armed Robbery at Shell Gas Station in Aspen Hill

Police are seeking the public's assistance with information on this morning's armed robbery.

Update, June 27, 9 p.m: Police arrested Luis Andres Portillo, 22, of the 4100 block of Heathfield Road in Rockville, for armed robbery and first degree assault at the Shell Gas Station. He is being held on a $500,000 bond.

Original story, June 25: Montgomery County Police are investigating an early morning armed robbery at the Shell gas station at 4001 Aspen Hill Road in Aspen Hill, according to a police media release. 

At approximately 6 a.m., 4th District officers responded to the Shell gas station for an armed robbery that had just occurred, police said. The suspect, a male, entered the store, confronted the employee and demanded cash; he then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

The suspect is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 150 pounds. Armed with a shotgun, the man was wearing gloves and had a bandanna concealing his face, police said.
