Arrest Made in Rockville, Bethesda Bank Robberies

Police: Accused robber charged in Montgomery County heists is also accused of robbing a bank in Washington, DC.

A Rockville man has been charged in connection with last week's bank robberies in Rockville and Bethesda.

Leonard Forrest, 47, of the 11300 block of Schuylkill Road, was arrested in Washington, DC, where he is accused of robbing another bank, police said in a news release Wednesday.

Last week police released video and photos from the two Montgomery County heists. Investigators said then, that they thought the robberies were connected, Bethesda-Chevy Chase Patch reported.

At around 2 p.m. Dec. 2, a man robbed the PNC Bank inside of the Giant Food at 12051 Rockville Pike.

Days later, a Bethesda bank was hit.

At around 10 a.m. Dec. 4, a man slid a teller a note demanding money at the PNC Bank at 10211 Old Georgetown Road.

DC police said Forrest robbed a PNC bank in Northwest on Dec. 6, WUSA9 reports.

Montgomery County detectives found out about the DC bank robbery and were able to link Forrest to the Bethesda and Rockville incidents, police said in the news release.
