Aspen Hill, Silver Spring Men Charged in Carjackings

Police said an Aspen Hill teen is being charged as an adult in association with two carjackings this month.

Two men were charged in association with carjacking an 84-year-old man in Silver Spring on Aug. 5, Montgomery County police reported Tuesday.

An 18-year-old from Silver Spring was arrested and charged the same day, but the second suspect remained at large, police said.

A 17-year-old from Aspen was apprehended on Aug. 12 after police officers responded to a second carjacking in Silver Spring that day. The suspect ran away after the officer attempted to stop him, police said, and he wasn't located until a K9 was called to assist.

The teen is being charged as an adult with carjacking and associated charges for both sets of crimes, police said.
