All Lanes Back Open After Silver Spring Beltway Crash

The crash had closed the inner loop from New Hampshire Avenue to University Boulevard.

Update 12:30 p.m.: All lanes are open on the inner loop of the Beltway, State Highway Administration Spokesman Dave Buck said. Traffic is clear and moving smoothly.

Update 9:30 a.m.: Four people were injured in a crash Friday morning on the inner loop of the Beltway, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman Oscar Garcia said.

Three were transported to the hospital. Two of those three had trauma and the other had non-life threatening injuries, Garcia said. One of the injured required extrication from a car, but Garcia could not identify which one.

Two lanes are back open on the inner loop, he said.

Original Story: Shortly before 8 a.m., a crash on the inner loop of the Beltway closed down all lanes from University Boulevard exit to the New Hampshire Avenue exit.

Cars are being rerouted off the University Boulevard exit. Charlie Gischlar, a spokesperson for the State Highway Administration, posted on several Patch sites, alerting us to the closure.
