Crime Report: Baltimore Man Arrested After Robbery at Wheaton Mall Play Area

Montgomery County police have released the latest crime report for the Fourth District, from Feb. 18-26. The list published here is not comprehensive, but rather selects incidents that occurred in or near Wheaton and Glenmont.

An attempted armed robbery occurred at Westfield Wheaton Mall, located at 11160 Veirs Mill Rd. in Wheaton, on Friday, Feb. 22 at 6:30 p.m.  The suspect threatened the victim with a weapon and unsuccessfully attempted to remove property.

A strong-arm robbery occurred at the play area at Westfield Wheaton Mall, located at 11160 Veirs Mill Rd. in Wheaton, on Sunday, Feb. 24, at 11:15 a.m.  The suspect forcefully removed property from the victim and was arrested.

      Arrested: Male, 25, from Baltimore

A commercial burglary occurred at the Plaza Market, located at 2511 Ennalls Ave. in Wheaton, on Sunday, Feb. 24, at 1:20 a.m.  Forced entry. Property taken. 

A residential burglary occurred in the 2500 block of Jennings Court in Silver Spring between Saturday, Feb. 23, at 3:15 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 24, at 5 p.m.  Forced entry; property taken.
