Head-on Collision on Old Columbia Pike Kills 1, Injures 3

A car traveling north at about 2:40 a.m. crossed the center line into the southbound lane, police said.

A head-on collision on Old Columbia Pike in Silver Spring early Saturday killed an 18-year-old from Wheaton, Montgomery County police said. Three other people were injured.

The crash occurred around 2:40 a.m. in the 11700 block of Old Columbia Pike, police said.

A gray 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling southbound on Old Columbia Pike when a red 2003 Infiniti traveling northbound crossed the center line into southbound traffic, causing a head-on collision, police said in a statement.

The front passenger of the Infiniti was pronounced dead at the scene.  He is identified as Oscar Alexander Orellana, 18, of the 2400 block of Sheraton Street in Wheaton.

The driver of the Infiniti, a 19-year-old man from Wheaton, and a rear passenger, a 23-year-old man from Kensington, were both transported to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

The 25-year-old driver of the Tahoe, a Silver Spring man, was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
